January 23, 2010. After the successful Filipino Pride book tour in Luzon, Filipino Matters hit the road again. But this time, they cross the sea to reach their destination, Mindanao, the country’s second largest island to the south. Known as the Land of the Promise for its enormous resources- fertile land, rich mines, verdant forests, teeming fisheries, energy sources, beautiful tourist spots, and industrious people- Mindanao has great potentials for development, but conflict, poor infrastructure and inadequate social services continue to haunt some places in the island.
Last January 23, 2010, Filipino Matters was invited to speak at the job search exhibit organized by the Green Valley College Foundation of Koronadal City, South Cotabato. The event was attended by graduating students excited to start their own careers. Volunteers Dale Dennis M. David and Ma. Julie B. Tanada represented FM. FM impressed on the enthusiastic job seekers the significance of national pride and how can pride in the country translate to greater performance in the workplace.
Filipino Matters is grateful for the warm reception of the people of Cotabato. We are also thankful for the organizers for inviting us and helping us cultivate and promote nationalism and love of country among our kababayans in Mindanao.
