Networking to promote Filipino Pride

April 16, 2010. In furtherance of its fund raising campaign, Filipino Matters (FM) sold copies of the Filipino Pride book in the recently concluded 38th General Assembly of the Association of Foundations (AF) held last April 16, 2010 at the J.V. del Rosario Conference Center of the Asian Institute of Management in Makati City. The Filipino Pride book project was supported by the Jose Antonio Delgado Memorial Foundation, Inc., better known as Ala-Ala Foundation, an organization supporting scouting, the church and youth-related activities. FM sold the book at P280/per copy. Every purchase of two books enables us to give one free copy to a public school. All proceeds from the book sales go to the printing of more book copies for distribution to public schools all over the country. Among the participating organizations that responded to our call for support and bought copies of the book were the following:

Aboitiz Foundation

Assisi Development Foundation, Inc.

Community and Family Services International

Evelio B. Javier Foundation, Inc.

Fundacion Santiago

Genesys Foundation

Jesuit Volunteers Philippines Foundation, Inc.

Kalahan Educational Foundation

Lorenzo Tañada Foundation

Negros Forest Ecological Foundation, Inc.

Notre Dame Business Resource Center Foundation, Inc.

Philippine Airlines Foundation

Ramon Magsaysay Award Foundation

But more than selling copies of the book, FM was also able to meet, talk, network and explore possible avenues for partnership with various foundations and NGOs who expressed their willingness and interest to support the cause of promoting Filipino national pride. We hope that we can take this acquaintance further and establish lasting relationships with these organizations. Through their provincial offices, logistical capabilities, linkages, and partner schools, they can be of big help to us in terms of distributing copies of Filipino Pride, especially in far flung rural areas.

Filipino Matters would like to acknowledge the assistance extended by Mr. Oman Jiao, Executive Director of the Association of Foundations and Ms. Lolita Delgado Fansler, Executive Director of the Ala-Ala Foundation. Through their efforts, we were able to sell copies of the book during the event. We would also like to thank all AF member foundations and organizations who came to support us by buying copies of the book.
